Frustrations

She was beautiful, golden-colored, 5.6 inches tall working woman. Many boys were referred to her parents for matrimonial alliance. But on her first dates with them the slim guy turned fat, educated became illiterate, good-salaried dropped down to mediocre-salaried. With these subsequent lies, frustrations started creeping.

One day her dearest uncle asked her to meet a guy, who he told was very tall, handsome and well-educated man of 29 years.

She went to meet him in a coffee joint.
She: “Hi, is this Rohan?”
Rohan stood up: “Hey”

She was looking four inches down from her two inched high heels!!!

Do you know any such instances of first blunder dates, arranged meetings, or any such lies?

P.S. This is an Indian story of arranged marriage. I had posted a fiction about the same issue from a male point of view long back. Here is the link: Matrimony (you may enjoy it).

P.P.S.: I am not stereotyping about dating shorter guys, I am voicing out my opinion against lies that are a common occurrence in arranged alliances.

Drabble is a piece of fiction strictly in hundred words.

    1. Nabanita, everyone around me has such stories to tell.... The lies later on become jokes! I may like to write detailed posts sometime later in life. Though for some these are frustrations, for some these are funny instances!

  2. Rofl. I agree ppl lie when it comes to matrimonial alliances. But in a way such people bring unpleasant memories to themselves and invite rejection. It is always good to be honest and let the right one find you. Nice one shesha(i)

  3. I can understand the frustration the girl goes through as each time she is lied and when she musters up faith to start afresh the same old story repeats....i guess this happens with many out there ...

  4. Even though we do not have arranged marriages in this neck of the world, blind dates can be really embarrassing. I don't think many of them end up working out.

    1. Yeah Carol! Arranged marriages are more like blind dates... Just that we know about the family background of the guy before going on our first blind date! :)

  5. I suppose they wanted the guys to sound good. I'm sure there's a better way to do it, though.

    1. True Gauri! It creates a high expectation in other person's mind and then even men get rejected and feel insulted! I hope people learn to respect themselves!

P.S. Gauri, Please send me your blog's url! I have been searching for it on your Google+ profile where there are so many shares, I don't know which one is yours!

  8. Oh, yes!! Mine is a typical arranged marriage. The first one turned out to be a fat fellow, second was just asking how much he would get as dowry and the third turned out to be smart, handsome and with a boy-next-door kinda image. he won my heart and is my hubby darling now :P :P Arranged marriages is an embarassing thing!! Nice post... :)

  12. Such disasters happen quite often which shows how desperate some people can get in order to find a good* match....
My wife & I met through a matrimony website and none of us were disappointed with each other :) And yeah..we were given freedom from our family to make a choice which worked.

  19. Luckily or unluckily I haven't had a chance to face our typical Indian arranged marriage fate and I must say I was lucky to choose on my own. But yes I know a lot of friends and even cousins who due to the pressure had to undergo such pain.

Your short and sweet way of expression is what I loved.
