It is natural for a man, (or even a woman) to get attracted to a woman. Women do not hate attention from men either. But some people instead of a subtle decent glance, ogle at women's body inappropriately. Such an obscene way of staring becomes an obnoxious experience for them. Women are humans, not objects, hence one should be considerate of their feelings while unpleasantly staring at them with owl-eyes.
Ogling at women is not the only way they are objectified. Using them as
an object to flaunt in front of the family, friends, and professional circle without
treating them as normal intelligent being is another way of objectification. Bollywood
has also played a major role in inciting the objectification of women.
Let us be mindful of other's feelings next time by stopping ourselves, consciously or subconsciously from gawking at other women.

Very well said. Flaunting? I have seen many rich people have "trophy" wives.
ReplyDeleteThanks SG. You are right! Some women are fine with being objectified I guess, not all though!
DeleteI did not mean in that sense. My poor English. I was trying to say how older rich guys take advantage of these poor girls.
DeleteYes some men do treat their women just like trophies restricting their participation in general discussions in get togethers. On the other hand some women also want fo become trophy wives. I remember reading a post on reddit about a woman asking for ways to marry a super rich guy stating age doesn’t matter but he must be a billionaire. Also she added how other women with average looks are able to get rich spouse and she has not succeeded yet despite her good looks. Her post got backfired badly!
DeleteI don't like such girls who want to marry an older guy just for money. Should I say I hate them ?
DeleteHaha I am indifferent though, since I dont know any personally. But attraction for youth is also on the other side, so materialistic attitude is somewhat similar :)
DeleteThere was this ad some years ago about men to see how stupid they look ogling women, it said, dekh le, tu dekhte hue kaisa lagta hai. It was powerful and hard-hitting.
ReplyDeleteOh yes Shilpa, I have seen that ad. It was hard hitting for sure. Thanks for reminding me of that.
Deletewell said shesha there are so many ways they get objectified, some times these girls/women are ignorant and are exploited, at other times their esteem levels could be pretty low and associating themselves with men they feel strong. In many of the households even today women are just there are decorative piece- their job only to listen and follow instructions, I feel sad when I come across these women and they have no opinion an identity of their own. Thats the plight of our women.
ReplyDeleteSo true, in many homes they are decorative pieces merely there to obey the commands. Thankyou for adding more meaning yo this post by sharing your views.
