Do Ghosts Really Exist?

Image: www.clipartlord.com
They flow in air, with either inverted feet or no-feet at all like a genie. They have supernatural powers and can do anything they want to from making you fly to entering in your body. When you feel a cold air passing through your body in warm summers, it is a soul/ghost as they are the cold things on earth. You can not see them because humans and ghosts have different vibration patterns. The ones who see them almost vibrate at the the speed of Ghosts. We all have heard of people who claim that they call the ghosts of the dead and talk to them. Have you heard/read all this and more?
The idea or stories of ghosts are quite intriguing. I heard the word Ghost for the first time when I was in 5th standard. Before that I was oblivious of what a Ghost really means! Being a tough kid with no fixed habits my parents used to scare me off with idea of a “Watchman”. Outside our home on a road a watchman used to stroll during fixed hours. But in his absence whenever I showed a reluctance to sleep, my father used to wear a shawl, take a stick and used to move outside the room of our bungalow with that “thak-thak” of hitting of wooden stick on the floor. My mom used to ask me to hide and sleep else the watchman outside will take me with him. That used to frighten me a lot to sleep on time, letting my parents get enough sleep before going to work next morning. It was almost a ritual, till I developed a normal sleep cycle. During that time a watchman was 'the Ghost' for me.

After listening to ghost stories(people claiming them to be real) I once asked my mother about what exactly a Ghost is! To which she calmly replied, “It is a matter of your faith. If you will have faith in God, you will see God. If you have faith in Ghosts, you will see Ghosts.” I never questioned her again. I developed strong faith in God (and that doesn’t mean I don’t believe in the theory of evolution).
The idea of Ghosts terrified me after seeing some of the Ghosts movies during childhood, and famous serial 'Aahat' later on. But I told myself what my mother told me years back and I didn’t believe in Ghosts  again.
Two years back during one of the philosophical and spiritual dialogues with a friend, Saumya, the topic of Ghost came in a full swing. We were very casual about the discussion when clock striked 1 O’clock at night. She said,” you know I have read ghosts are active from midnight till 4 am.” Listening that for the first time a chill ran through me. I told her that it did scare me this time. She continued, “ You know when you feel scared, there is an actual ghost around you.” I bid farewell to her for the night and waited for my fear to go away before using the restroom. Later I told myself once again, I trust my God more and if ever I will have an encounter with a ghost, it will be on a pleasant note. I don’t believe in interfering till then.
P.S. Once in the state of insomnia I thought of checking if we can see a ghost in a dark room. When I thought about ‘what if a ghost actually comes before me’, I quickly took a blanket on my face and slept. I was petrified. Was there a ghost?
P.P.S. I don’t discard the experiences that people share and I respect them of what they saw and I didn’t. Somewhere I am glad I didn’t.

Do you have a ghost story? Have you ever experienced a ghost in your life?
I am glad my mother didn’t scare me that time when I was young, which made me stronger. What would you tell your child, if s/he asks the same?

Nightmares and Solutions

Imagine this: You slept after midnight and suddenly woke up at 2 am screaming and shouting. Your sister, who was sleeping beside you, woke up in terror. Perplexed looking at her surroundings she was half-asleep and half-scared trying to dig out the reason behind your scream. You both can hear your hearts pounding aloud in the silence of night along with the sound of second’s-needle in the clock. Meanwhile you saw your mother rushing up in your room all worried. Your sister and your mother looked at you and asked you about what happened?
You tried to remember the reason behind that loud shriek was it a bad dream or was it all for real?
This was my story in January. I was unable to guess the reason behind subsequent nightmares during first half of the month. It had never happened before with me, except for once in November, when I had dreamed of a huge, gigantic frog sitting beside me. I shouted so loud in my sleep that my siblings came running from the other room. I had to summon up my guts to sleep again on that bed. But January had different sort of nightmares- ones that were related to faces of people, for some reason they seemed very scary! I felt insecure and abandoned in my sleep. With these nightmares my nights turned nasty, I was sleep deprived.  Along with me my family was turning insomniac. After three consequent nightmares my mother came up with this suggestion to battle with my bad dreams. She said:

“a) Pray before you sleep; b) Keep a sharp object under your pillow like a knife." (Knife superstition that works most of the times, I have suggested a few friends and they found it useful)

My sister objected strongly on the latter one i.e. on keeping a knife. She had doubts that I may end up hurting her in a fit to save myself from  random face in my dream.

So she told my mother and me in a confident voice, that if I scream again, she would throw a bucket of water on me in chilly winter.
I decided to discuss it with my friend Shine. She said that she had read somewhere it might be because of dehydration. Hence she advised me to drink enough water before I sleep.

Nightmares never occurred again after January. It has been three months almost since my last nasty night. I don’t know whether it is my younger sister's warning that has been keeping me in control; or Shine’s advice. Yesterday I found a knife under my mattress too. My mother kept it there without telling me.
What solution works for you to fight with nightmares?

Tomorrow...

A day when we'll realize our dreams, do what we want to. A day when somebody in a dire need for money will win a lottery; a guy at a beer bar will get a free beer; someone will get back one's love; the couple who have been working day and night will pay off all their bills; a man who has been saving for the day will enjoy all his savings; a critically ill guy will get well. A day when system will change, life will change; a day when we will fulfill all our responsibilities and live a free, untangled life or as some say a day when we all will die .

Tomorrow is a day that no one has ever seen or been into, but we all fear, worry, plan, dream and live for it.
"...though Tomorrow never comes."

The Elusive Dreams...

As a child the dreams were easy to see. Some were as small as dreaming of getting a doll or a toy car, and some were as big as finding a fairy in a white dress with those two large wings and flying high with her. Both dreams had a big difference, one was close to reality and other had no connection with it. One could possibly be achieved, other was lived forever in a hope to be achieved. Where the former got fulfilled, latter was beautifully lived without regretting or bothering if it will be realized someday. Both were different but both had contentment, a tranquility and a joy of living the different worlds and were lived without a fail, a repent or a sorrow.

One day we started growing up. And the world started shrinking in our minds restricting our fictional wisdom with its facts and figures, the dreams now got closer to reality. When as a child only dreaming mattered, now making that dream come true was the motto.. When dreams, were not transformed in reality now, we were torned, the trust vanished, the hopes broke!

As a child it was a dream to pluck the stars from sky, or holding that moon with a thread to stop it from falling down during the day, finding a white pony with wings if not fairy, or finding a chocolate bearing tree, is now that elusive dream that has no meaning, irrespective of how beautiful one had thought of even being a child...
A friend rightly said a few days back, "when u grow up its hard to bridge up the gap between reality and dreams."

Lying idle under the sky
With you besides
When as a child plucking
Those stars was all i dreamt of
Now holding your hand
Is all i want to
I used to pray for a fairy before
To take me on the worldly ride
Now you give me
my invisible wings for a lifetime flight....

Alice in Wonderland..

I went to a beautiful doll kept in the telephone cabin in our Drawingroom and asked her to play hide and seek with me. She agreed and we started. She counted till ten and in the meanwhile i found a reasonable place to hide. She started searching for me. After some time she located me from a distance and i started running so that she couldn't catch me. I was enjoying our game. She kept on following me and suddenly expression and aggression in her made me realise that she was chasing me to kill me.. And now i was running to save my life.. And suddenly i opened my eyes and realised that it was a Nightmare.
I was probably 9 or 10 years old at that time. And such kind of dream to a kid is hideous. I was shaken. but soon forgot and slept again.. This was the dream i often used to get. We had a joint family that time. And when we shifted from first floor to second floor, this dream dissapeared like anything. When years later i told my friend about it, i got tears in my eyes. And that time i actually realised how terrified i was with that dream.

Dream world is a strange world. One can fly above the sky and swim beneath the oceans. A limitless world.
It is believed that some dreams are purely fictional work of our minds and sometimes we dream about what we observe from the environment around us or what we fantasize about. While Some people also believe that some dreams are intuitive in nature and they have hidden meanings in them.
Some dreams are repetitive in nature. As like watching a person or a thing haunting us for days leaving us with the feeling as if its been so since ages. Or some flowers blossoming over our path. Dreams can be utterly beautiful or can be awefully hideous. Some can be forgotten in a split second whereas some are difficult to forget.
At some point of time dreams compel us to give them a deep thought so as to discover if they really have some hidden meaning..

Sometimes it happens that when you wake up at 7 am and then I go back to sleep and have those long beautiful dreams that seem to last for hours, and then again wake up and it's...
7 : 02 .
In just those two minutes our brains dream of a journey lasting a day or a week or vice-versa.

In another dream i saw that my mum went to America, and there she and Bill Clinton started a 'war' like thing. During the war both were morphing into different species like Mr. Clinton became snake and my mum became eagle and Clinton morphed himself into vulture and so on. It was one of the very wonderful and interesting dream i had. Full of special effects. lol

Then there was yet another kind of dream i have experienced. I was sleeping and suddenly somebody or some unknown power was trying to pull my soul away from my body. I had realisation that it was merely a dream but couldn't wake myself up from this dream. I was trying hard to get out of it, shouting hard in my dream but soon felt i was paralysed in my dream. And i started chanting all the names of God and Shlokas and everything i could think of. And after some time came out of it.
After much research about this one i got to know many interesting facts. This is a very common thing. This was kind of dream paralysis that everybody suffers in their lives sooner or later. When our mind gets much tired or stressed up, this happens.
Moral of the story : I was pretty happy that i too have mind.. lol

Another reccuring dream, some friends or family members came home to take me for some fun outing. And i rushed out with them barefoot. And then sufferred embarresment outside.
After searching its meaning i discovered that it means the person who has got this dream is very carefree and living a very stressless life full of enthusiasm.

Interesting fact: Dreams about deaths are good and about marriages are considered bad. As death implies end of the problems. So it is believed if a person sees death in his dreams, the major problem that he is currently facing in his personal or proffessional life is going to end soon.

If you have such stories about your wonderland, do share it here. And dont forget to uncode them, if you think they may mean something..
