Things You Do When Insomniac

1. You count till Boredom. Or start solving mathematical problems and invent the light bulb, some cool gadgets and of course, the time machine.(or think about why the 'Orange' fell down). 
2. You go online during odd hours to find other insomniacs and update status message and wait for someone to like. When no one likes you cant go to sleep worrying about what you just updated.
3. You take a walk around the house- then open that cold Pandora's box to find some hidden treasure to munch on!!!
4. You tend to call a friend probably overseas to catch them alive and alert and talk to them.
5. If you are creative, you think. then you think about what you just thought, you process those thoughts and jot them down in the form of poems, stories, articles or may be drawings and paintings or may indulge into some experiments.
6. Read a boring book in a hope to fetch some sleep or you play games, watch movies and wake up some or the other member in your home to get a company and utilize the insomnia.
7. You realize that the tick-tock sound of your wall clock and of some water droplet are louder at night and feel irritated and think of them as a cause for your insomnia.
8. Call the police because your neighbours are partying loud and blame them for your sleepless night.
9. You tend to think about the exciting and eventful tomorrow and the failures of past, feeling both euphoric and depressed at the same time.
10. Last but not least- you think and dream about magic or anything that is beyond your reach i.e. About some spider biting you and you turning into a Spider-(wo)man or may be finding some dwarfs or UFO out of that window or sudden appearance of some soul wandering in your room when you are looking at that wall across... you even start hallucinating that someone is running on your terrace.

P.S. Author has recently experienced Insomnia, where she tried to talk to herself, bore herself and ended up roaming in the home during odd hours. Then she decided may be there are other insomniacs in the world who can relate with her problem and she can feel normal about it.
P.P.S. Seems like after ages (though not true) I slept and slept and slept fine... I dont know whats the opposite term for insomnia- may be soon that is going to hit me! :D

The Not So Fair Era

A news anchor was not getting a job, though she was competent enough but her skin complexion was dull. A girl in call center  had complexes despite being beautiful, she wasn’t fair! A model didn’t get a break or a girl next door was rejected for a marriage alliance due to her not so fair complexion!  The solution to all problems was Fair &Lovely  or Fairever cream. (Note: These were the lot of self-respecting women who never  did any make up!)(Thanks to the advertisements for providing us with the various above mentioned case studies)

 After making lives of so many women easier, the company thought about the upliftment of the other gender of the society. A guy was not getting proper attention from girls was deemed to be the main issue in the lives of the male section of the society, because they cracked into all the other jobs despite their colored skin “issue”. And since male ego could be hurt for using “fair&lovely” the company introduced  “Fair &Handsome” cream.

So now Indians realized that previously they were neither lovely nor handsome. Thanks for the En-Lightening Cream, that we got an understanding of whats beautiful and whats not. Since it doesn’t matter now how intelligent, multi-talented, sharp or good humored we are,  nor does it matter how sharp our facial features are, we should be fair. Since Dark is dull, and we stopped respecting our existence, we decided to take up the creams and soaps, face washes and hair oils....errrr.. I think people would still consider black hair beautiful than the whites!

I dont know when Bipasha Basu, Helle Berry, James Booker, Will Smith, Barrack Obama and Rajni Kant or thousands of people from dark, brown, or not so “fair” cities/countries will get The En-lightenment, because some people are seriously having an issue watching them on our Big screens, unable to understand if they are performing a Fair act !!!

                                                                                                                                                                                  

P.S. 

To fair (-bias) skins: Kindly respect others on how they are, and what they are, you may not be perfect with your white/light-skin with bad temperaments, and selfish and humiliating attitude towards others.

To Everyone else: You are a creation of God/your parents. You are beautiful the way you are with those lovely bronze and golden complexions, beautiful skins, so many grey cells, and varied interests. Respect your identity, you dont need to become twin of someone else and lose your own identity!

To Fairness Creams: This is not the way to kill “Apartheid”. Thanks but No-Thanks!

P.P.S. : I am not against usage of any cosmetics/fairness creams, but I am against creating stereotypes !!!

To Smokers with Love...

Why to follow anti-corruption movement

1. If you are tired of swinging back and forth from government offices, taking time out from your 9-5 job, for getting your basic work done.
2. If you crib that nothing can be done and system will never change! ( a system will change someday, unless you are a pessimist)
3. The person initiating the cause can be trusted more than any political party in elections for which u vote every 5 years! His past records are clean. No corruption, an army man who fought for India, for his country and is still fighting for it!
4. If you are not scared of fighting. We never give exams to fail, fail or pass comes later! (People thinking :" How can we say adding another layer to the already existing system could be a solution? People in Jana Lokpal could be corrupt." We can’t stop working for our daily bread with the fear we won’t get it)
5. If you can’t stand in elections, can’t give speeches and can’t make a difference, just be with the masses and play the gamble!
6. If you think cause is right but method is wrong : Stand up for the cause!
The ones who think fasting onto death is an offense, there are more severe offenses than that. There is a vast difference between making you suffer for the sake of others’ lives and creating situations for others to die. And hence there is still a big difference between Anna and government respectively. One question raised by a friend on facebook (Megha) “Eat to death or fast to death, what would you prefer?
7. If you are not amongst those who who have a smooth life and have money, corruption/no corruption doesn’t make any difference. Why to bother! I don’t care attitude!
8. If you are tired of watching scam stories on news channels, uncovering one after other biggest corruption scams today, seeing the tax you have paid for benefit of your nation and society being stashed away in foreign banks.
9. If you compare India with US and UK and constantly complain about life here.
10. If you care about the common man more than the party you support!

P.S. Dont think if you are not fasting or not physically present there you fail to support, a mere status update, blog update shows the support! A recent example of Ram Janmabhoomi, Ayodhya case when so many people registered their views on facebook, blog, twitter were acknowledged in news and newspaper. Time has changed and so the electronic media is also used for sampling, interviewing and researches! Think well!

I am an Indian against Corruption!

I am a man - a common man. I earn my bread sometimes by pulling a rikshaw, sometimes lifting a heavy sack. I sometimes fix the taps of others' homes, and some days I scavenge those plastic bags from that big pile of garbage.

I am a woman, who struggles daily to get two square meals, to feed my children, to feed the unborn in me. My mornings are spent cleaning others' homes and sometimes I brush up the roads. I hear the loud cries of the hungry stomachs, and weakened by daily gusts of poverty but I fight harder. I am a mother whose child has abandoned her, and my time is near. I daily bang my head in government offices to avail my rights, to get my pension. I lift up my old crippled husband to the government hospitals on my bare shoulders covered with torn clothes, and I sit there whole day waiting for my turn.

I am a child who begs for money on the street, because my parents can't afford my education, my relatives have left me on the roads because they can't feed one more mouth. I can't get the vaccines, because they are unavailable to me even if they are free. I am an Indian, who wants to make it big, but they tell me that everything comes at a cost. And that cost comes with an additional cost. I am an Indian who is tired of paying taxes and extra cess on those taxes and still when I go out to buy a house, I pay additional sums to get my work done on time and keep myself out of trouble. I am an Indian who is about to die soon, but the installments still remain to be paid off. I feel bad that I couldn't secure a safe future for my child. I am the soul of that soldier who died because he was provided corroded rifles, and fake bulletproof jackets. I am a man who voted for a party thinking they wont do a party at my cost. I selected a handful of people, with a trust they will act best in my interest.
I believe if there is no corruption, half of my struggles will be solved. I may pass away peacefully in my own abode rather than on a random street. I may enjoy the a life of a human, rather than a bull who pulls the wagon all his life. I want to live each day. My country, my motherland will never be ashamed of not being able to feed me, shelter me, protect me.
I am an Indian, who is corrupt only because the system is corrupt, who asks for additional sums to get work done on time, because I have to pay that extra amount to get my work done- even to get an identity. I am that Indian who is promised to get a better life before every election, but left hungry, crippled and poorer after every selection!

I will stand against corruption, to fight against the system! I will never stop fighting till I win against a handful of money suckers who think they are the Kings and queens of the country! I think they have forgotten, but not me in a democracy there is no king and no queen, only of the people, by the people and for the people.

I will Free India from corruption, I am an Indian against Corruption!

Media Shedia Hai Rabba...

On 14th September we went to attend the book release Function of “Hamare Kaptaan: Nayudu se Dhoni Tak.” by my Fufaji Prof. Surya Prakash Chaturvedi. This was his 9th book on Cricket. The Book is about Indian cricket captains till date and it covers 12 of the greats.

The function went well. The compere withdrew at the last minute, hence mum was given the responsibility. Although she is a writer, Prof. in Delhi University and has compered and conducted many `programs in functions and radio but it was somewhere difficult without any prior preparations. Still she managed well. People who attended the functions have been calling and praising her work. Anyhow here the anecdotes by Fufaji were very interesting and attracted and managed to retain the interest of even a non-cricket fan like me. Virender Sehwag was the main guest at the ceremony and he released the book. He surely is an honorable person, full of ethics and courtesy. His speech was wonderful too. He said he will read the book and since he doesn’t have a cricket background and so his knowledge about former cricket players is not rich. He said he will share the knowledge with the children of his family and his team-mates.
Anyhow the blog title as it suggests is about Media and the expression surely doesn’t depict the praises about the same.
Hence here I go further to the questions and answers session, where people attending the function were given the liberty to ask our chief guest the questions they want to. They were as follows:

Q: If you will be given an Opportunity to be the Captain of India, what strategies would you like to follow?
Sehwag: I think there is no need as of now for me to be the captain.

Q: Still if there is a do or die situation and you have no other option?
Sehwag: I will do my best then. If there will be an offer, I surely will accept it and will do justice with it. But I think team is doing great under Dhoni’s Captainship and is making new records.

Q: Who is your favourite captain?
Sehwag: Team is doing very well under Dhoni and Saurav Ganguly was also very good.

Q: Still who's your ideal?
Sehwag: Sourav Ganguly

Q: What is your say about CWG?
Sehwag: All the Best to them.

Q: It has been seen, the players who become Captain in India, their performance level as a player decreases. Is it due to increased pressure?
Sehwag: I don’t think so. This is not factual and its just false perception.

Q: The word “Dabang” has been used for you, how are you feeling about it?
Sehwag: Film is good

And so questions kept on flowing in…



As we reached back home and surfed through the news channels, we were awfully shocked with the news coverage on one of the channels. The Media quoted “ Sehwag said he would love to be the captain and has challenged Dhoni. He feels that Sourav Ganguly was a much better captain than Dhoni. He gave best wishes to India for CWG.”

It’s high time our Media should understand the importance and responsibility of their position.
Anyway I have seen such misquotation of words in real life. In the end its media, the business people and they would of course add some extra spice to sell the news.

The Right Investment

This is what a common man is thinking these days, soon these necessities can be seen on our decoration shelves.
Yesterday i went to the vegetable market and i saw a chaos in people, regarding the raised prices, trying to find substitutes for their basic necessities, for instance, puree as a substitution for tomatoes.
When people from high income groups are standing at this point, whats the situation of those who have to struggle and fight for each day's bread?
